Now you'll all know what happened last year.....

I was already preparing a detailed 2008 review to publish it here when Poonam had tagged me for this meme. This tag would, perhaps, be a prelude to whatever I am going to write in my next post. And for the same reason, I had to deliberately omit a couple of questions from the original meme to avoid repetitions. I am not tagging anyone in specific, but it would be great if some of you could take it up yourself .

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Spent a lot of time with myself !

2. Did you keep up your 2008 resolutions, and will you make more for 2009?
I had taken 3 resolutions –
Avoid aerated drinks for a year.
Purchase a plot / apartment.
Reduce my anger.
And I could keep up only the first one. The rest are carried forward to this year along with the resolution of attending a music class.

3. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Peace of mind.

4. Did anyone close to you give birth?
It was raining babies in 2008. LOL.
My brother was blessed with a baby girl and so was my best friend Anitha.
To name a few of my other friends who had kids - Mathew, Sudha, Madhu, Mithun.

5. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why:
Feb 9th ; When I met my God - A.R.Rahman.

6. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Initiated a peace protest in Chennai.
Participated till the 8th round of a song based TV show - Raagamalika

7. What was your biggest failure?
In being misunderstood by my family and the closest of friends.

8. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A ligament tear in April and a conjunctivitis that left my cornea damaged during Sep - Oct.

9. What was the best thing you bought?
My Provogue floaters !

10. Where did most of your money go?
As usual, to Airtel !!!

11.What song will always remind you of 2008?
Shakti Kodu - Baba (2002 – Tamil) and Maaeri – Euphoria (2000 – Hindi); the songs that got me through the audition of Raagamalika.

12.What do you wish you’d done more of?
Take care of my health.

13. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Going out of the way to help others !

14. How would you sum up your 2008 in one word?

15. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
My forefathers !

16. What was the best book you read?
LG TV Manual (Whaat ?? that was in the form of a book!!)

17. What was your favorite TV program?
Raagamalika (this was expected, wasn’t it?)

18. What was your greatest musical discovery?
If practiced well, I could render a semi classical song too.

19. What was your favorite film of this year?
Thirakadha (Malayalam)
Subramaniapuram (Tamil)
A Wednesday (Hindi)
KungFu Panda (English)

20. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you ?
The first time when I turned 27 (lol!), I was at work and no one even knew about it. 

21. What kept you sane?
Blogging and Music

22. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Always A.R.R.

23. Whom did you miss?
My brother.

24. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
When you are in deep shit, zip your mouth !
Never get yourself involved in a lot of activities at the same time.
Prioritize the people in your life before they end up sitting on your head and start counting fleas !

@ Rockus :

Welcome to V-Lokam.

Please do. It will be a pleasure reading your version. I couldnt watch Thalappavu, it didnt have a show here in Chennai. Infact, I'd seen very few mal movies this year.

See ya around.

@ Vishesh :

Which concert was it? the one which was held in feb or the one in Apr? Well, I was there for both of them. Woah ! your grandmom watches Raagamalika? Please do ask her.

@ Vinod :

Thanks man.

@ Poonam :

LOL, thats what even some of my friends say too !

The rates have come down, but so are the chances of getting a bank loan. Its all a vicious circle blogmate !

vimmuuu said...

@ Harsha :

The one which Poonam attempted had 38 questions. You should try that !
Thanks man.

@ Varun :

LOL, thanks man. I need to frame that comment alone of yours. No one has said something like that ever !

@ Soneeta :

Three consecutive comments. Now, thats a record here !LOL.

The TV manual was very interesting. It even had a page in different languages ! Try it, you will be addicted too.

You remember every post of mine ,dont you? Well, my resolution was only with Aerated drinks and not with cold drinks !

Shhhhhh about the ARR concert :D

Yeah! Yeah ! Im planning to go for a Reliance now, and as if I had a choice ;)

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the root canal !LOL.

Well, people who take new year resolutions should have will power ;)

Not suprised you like ARR (I am a fan too) ... that song was fantastic, but from some of the comments I gathered - you are expected to do still better!!!
Hope your carried forward resolutions are kept this year. With best wishes - IHM.

@ IHM :

Thanks a lot and wish you the same. Your aerated drinks resolution was for one year or for the lifetime ? and thanks for the wishes, I will surely improve on the songs front, but which song are you referring to?

vimmuuu said...

@ Allirekha :

Damn! A welcome note went just like that.

I saw a couple of latest posts in that link and thats the reason for me to think it was a new blogger. So you have another blog and none of us knew !

@ Aparna / Calvin :

Thanks, but whats with the malayalam ? LOL.

@ Praveen :

Welcome to V-Lokam.

The meet sure did. The biggest achievement in my life I would say.

Indian Home Maker said...

Vimmuuu I meant your first bisexual song :)
And aerated drinks given up for life- it's easy because I don't miss them. I think they should carry a warning like cigarettes do!

Anonymous said...

hey i loved the book one..and the last one about prioritizing we are planning to put it up as a caption on our bay ;P

Anonymous said...

wow u did a better job ;)...

seems like u spend a lota time to urself last year :)

vimmuuu said...

@ IHM :

oh yeah, that song. I need to work on my female vocals, I guess. LOL.
Yeah, you're right, a warning should help, instead of those dumb cricketers on that now !

@ Verbivorehere :

Wow, Im going to patent it !!

@ Remya :

Yup, I did and had a lot of fun too !!

Poonam said...

Arre you should first select the house and apply for laons. YOu ahve to start soemwhere. I am sure you will ahve bank loan. Call me before applying home loan, I do plan to write a post about my experience, but keeep forgetting it. You will get that bank loan, but first select the house yuo want to buy and that fits your budget.
