Goodbye to Blogging !!!

Yeah, you read that right! I am putting a full stop to this blog right here. Same day, two years back (15th July 2007), I started blogging and what a better day than this to quit ! There is one more announcement and that would be revealed as you read along.

But before getting into any of those, let me thank each of you here; the last two years have been really wonderful with all you guys around. I always thought I couldn’t write though I always wanted to. I still don’t have a strong vocabulary to back me up and I guess that’s because I don’t read books at all. But my best friend Anitha had always believed that I could write and often told me that I was feeling inferior for no reason. Then once it happened that I felt so horrible after watching a movie (Sivaji - Tamil) that I wanted to rip it apart and warn my friends from watching it. I sent a humangous mail to all my friends in the form of a review asking them for feedback. It was another best friend of mine, Sreeju, who replied asking me to start a blog and post it there. I took that suggestion seriously and thus Vlog was born on the 15th of July 2007 (the name Vlog was a short form for Vimals blog). I used to have only movie reviews as posts and I hardly wrote anything other than movies and music. Later on, I understood that Vlog also stood for Video Blog and so decided to change the name to V-Lokam. V-Lokam actually meant Our World (We-Lokam), but many of them thought it stood for Vimals Lokam; blame it on my infamous obsession towards the letter V and also my name! A few of them branded me as a narcissist for my domain name - 'vimals paradise', when all that I did was replace fools from the phrase ‘fools paradise’ with my name. LOL.

For about an year or so, I was a silent blogger with just a few friends and family members visiting my blog until one day, out of the blue, I had a visitor for my Jodha Akbar review- Poonam. She was generous enough in leaving a comment and also for tagging me after a few days. And that’s how I entered the blogosphere and started reading other blogs. You all know the rest of my notorious blog journey since you are a part of it now. Today, if at all I write something, thats only because of the encouragement that you guys have provided in the form of comments.

Well, I have decided to quit from here because blogging these days have become an addiction for me and I quit anything that makes me an addict. I buy a new mobile, I blog about it; I get drenched in the rain, I blog about it; I kill an insect, I blog about it; and one fine day, I am sure even this will happen :

(A regular visitor of this blog forwarded this picture to me and I really don’t know if that message at the bottom was added by the same person or not)

Another example of my addiction would be the following conversation I had with someone whom I had to meet recently after all those frantic matrimonial calls from my folks. We were asked to spend some time together, talk our hearts out and know each other (like its possible in those few minutes). When the girl kept asking me about important 'life deciding' questions, all I could think was about blogs !!! (btw, its a 110-er; a double 55 –er)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was my first experience and believe me, it was damn embarrassing!. We started talking and somewhere in between :

She : What do you do in your free time?
I update my blog.

She : Otherwise ? Otherwise, …hmm… watch movies …errr… and yeah I blog !
(To myself : Gawwwd, I don’t do anything else??)

U ?
She : Music, movies, shopping…
(To myself : Music ! now why didn’t I think of that?)

Her mom came in and offered tea.

No Aunty. I don’t need tea.

Her moms face shrunk and looked worried when I continued :

I meant, I don’t drink tea. Water would do.

She : Btw, do you cook ?
Nope, Do you blog ?

(she stared at me!!!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our conversation lasted for almost an hour and at the end both of us were pretty sure that we had varied interests and were totally different from each other. They say opposites attract, or rather, opposites should attract and so we expressed a ‘yes’ to our respective parents. Yeah, yeah, I am finally hooked !!!

That’s another reason for me to quit blogging; I need to spend more time for all those ‘matrimonial’ understandings that I need to do from now on; I need to atleast pretend, right? Btw, I had been wondering about something ‘very serious’ since yesterday. If she isn’t my wife and also not my fiancĂ© (because we aren’t engaged yet), what is she to me now? Technically, she is my girl friend, right? ; a girl friend selected for me by my folks ! LOL !! Now, is there a specific name for that kind of relationship ?? :D :D

Anyway(leaving the deepest sigh ever !), this would be my second-last post here. The next one would be a final bye bye to all of you. Its going to be very difficult for me to stop blogging here but that doesn’t mean I would stop visiting your blogs and bombarding my comments. That would never end!! Buhahahhahaha !!!! But what to do, good things need to end and it has to be replaced by better ones !

Current Favs : June 10 - July 10

Though Bollywood (I seriously don’t have an issue using this word) witnessed a number of music releases in the last one month, it was just Jashnn and Kaminey that stood out. Kambakkt Ishq had just one decent number (the RDB version of the title song), but again it was just the interludes that made it exciting; the song was soo bland ! and please, don’t even make me write about the movie ! If you love yourself, please don’t go watch it! It doesnt even deserve to be watched in a pirated CD ! Barring Shruti Haasans version of 'Luck Aazma' from Luck, the rest of the soundtrack is a disaster; then again, even that song is passable. The other major disappointing albums were Love Aaj Kal and Shortkut; the former because of the expectation from the Imtiaz Ali-Pritam combination and the latter for the undisputable track record of Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Again, to each their own; I am aware of people who are in love with the songs of Love Aaj Kal. Jashnn has some real good songs, 'Tere Bin', 'Aaye Re' and the two pakistani band songs, 'Dard-E-Tanhai' and 'Main Chala' are my favourites; try listening to them if you havnt yet. And whaaat an album Kaminey is !!!! 'Daan Ta Naan' is soon going to be an anthem !!! 'Fatak', 'Pehli Baar Mohabbat', 'Raat Ki Dhai Baje' and the title track; all are equally good !

I had to place 'Oh Divya' from Maasilamani (Tamil) in this list though the album released somewhere in May. This song is surprisingly good, considering the fact that it came out from D.Imman and I simply loved the way Shaan rendered it.

Now, if you are a real music lover, who would go beyond the boundaries of language, do listen to the songs of Aayirathil Oruvan (Tamil) and Kalavaramaaye Madhilo (Telugu). The songs of Ayirathil Oruvan simply grow on you, especially the one mentioned here and the semi classical ones (Thaai Thindra Mannu). and the title song of Kalavaramaaye Madhilo is easily one of the best melodies I have ever listened to. Take a bow Chitra; now I know how an angel sounds like !!!

2. Indha Paadai – Aayirathil Oruvan (Tamil) – Music : G.V. Prakash Kumar

4. Sehari – Oy (Telugu) – Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja

5. Tere Bin – Jashnn (Hindi) – Music : Toshi Sharib

6. Kannil Theriyum – Angaadi Theru (Tamil) – Music : G.V. Prakash Kumar

7. Chor Bazaari – Love Aaj Kal (Hindi) – Music : Pritam

8. Tu Ne Jo Na Kahaa – New York (Hindi) – Music : Pritam
